Naked and Afraid XL

In 2015, the war drums and smoke of yet another and more challenging “Naked and Afraid” was coming, to put 6 men and 6 women in the Badlands of Colombia for 40 days. EJ couldn’t resist. 

He set out as part of an Alpha Male trio, in the Roca Diablo Area, with Jeff Zausch and Hakim Isler to take it on. After a week, they lost Hakim to severe dehydration and nutrient loss, but were joined later by Shane Lewis. 

Upon arriving at Piranha Lake, they also lost Shane to deprivation. The “Alphas” were a Dominating Force throughout the Challenge. In the end, EJ and Jeff, along with 6 others made it to the extraction point on day 40.

 EJ and Jeff finished with a XLR Rating of 8.5, currently the Highest Group XLR Rating in XL History! EJ lost a total of 73 lbs. which is the Most weight ever lost in the History of the Naked and Afraid Challenges.

NAKED AND AFRAID has dropped survivalists in pairs and in groups into the most remote areas of the world to endure the elements together. Through skill and teamwork, many have been able to face their fears and showcase what it takes to be stripped of everything, left completely vulnerable and survive the ultimate challenge. Now, the series takes the challenge to a new level by bringing the best of the best to the most isolated areas around the globe, leaving them there with nothing on their backs and no one by their side.

Naked and Afraid Amazon

When 3 people quit the Challenge in the Amazon, in Peru and all the locals said it couldn’t be done, they called upon EJ to see if this was true. EJ accepted the challenge along with Laura Zerra both having a PSR Rating of 8.2! They both took on the mosquito ridden landscape. They battled against severe rain storms, snakes, caimans, piranhas, jaguars, and other wild life. They built a total of six shelters, multiple tools and weapons to aid in daily life, and one Helluva raft, “The Amazonian Queen”. They completed the challenge making them the first two to complete the challenge twice. EJ and Laura’s PSR’s rose to 9.1, currently the Highest PSR’s in the Challenge’s History! EJ lost a total of 44 lbs.

Naked and Afraid Tanzania

EJ was chosen to set out on The “Naked and Afraid” Challenge in January 2013. He set off to film the Pilot Episode for the Series along with Kellie Nightlinger. They were sent to the Serengeti Plains of Tanzania, Africa in the middle of the Dry Season. EJ started with a PSR Rating of 7.3! They battled dehydration, starvation, thorns, hyenas, other wild life, and infections. They completed the challenge through Teamwork, perseverance, and Will, making it to the Extraction Point on Day 21, thus launching a New Hit TV Series for Discovery Channel! They are the 1st to complete the Challenge! EJ Finished the Challenge with an 8.2 PSR! EJ lost a total of 55+ lbs.

In the new show Ed will take on a series of head-to-head challenges against some of the biggest names in survival, risking life, limb, and reputation along the way. Discovery Channel had EJ teamed up with his partner Jeff Zausch from “Naked and Afraid XL” to take on the “Dual Survival” Challenge. 

Each challenge, EJ and Jeff find themselves in the middle of nowhere, in a Survival Scenario, and they have to not only rely on their skills, wits, and tenacity, but ALSO each other! 

Dumped into some of the harshest and toughest environments on the planet, EJ and Jeff will show you just what it takes through to get to Rescue through Teamwork, perseverance, and Will. 

EJ and Jeff were asked by Discovery Channel and Production to answer a few simple questions this Go Around, What would one do if their back was against the wall in order to SURVIVE? What would you do and what risks would you have to take when placed at Death’s Door? 

Plain and Simple…just How Far would you push the limits of YOURSELF to Make it out ALIVE? EJ and Jeff were dumped into several places, two locations in Brazil, Utah desert, Louisiana Swamps, Former Soviet Republic of Georgia, the Wild Coast of South Africa, and Botswana.
